Blue Wedges invites all bay lovers to show their concerns about channel deepening on Australia Day this Saturday 26th January at one of these events.

But most important - Wear Red the colour of marine distress and help Save the Bay

 

1. PROTEST ON ELWOOD BEACH FROM 10.00 AM

 

Ocean Kayaking Australia (OKA) hires kayaks at five beach locations on Port Phillip foreshore. This Saturday at their Elwood locations OKA is hosting a protest against Port Phillip Bay dredging.

From 10 am kayakers will stage a paddle protest at Elwood Beach. OKA invites Victorians to join them for a free morning of kayaking to experience first-hand the beauty of Port Phillip Bay.

AFTER THE PADDLE JOIN ELWOOD BEACH ACTION FROM 11 AM

Local businesses and St. Kilda GP Dr. Josephine Samuel-King will inform you of what is at stake - for all who rely on the Bay. Hear where the campaign is at and what you can do to help.

2. MORNINGTON AUSTRALIA DAY PARADE.

Blue Wedges will be in the Mornington Parade with Weedy the Seadragon - Victoria’s Marine emblem.

If you would like to be part of the parade, and help hold Weedy aloft, meet at Hampden St (Behind Main St. Netball Courts & Footy oval) at position No. 10 at 9.30 a.m. Otherwise, just come along for the 10 am start, wear red and be part of the parade down Main St. with Weedy our threatened Marine emblem. Then join us at:

 

3. MT. MARTHA AUSTRALIA DAY MADD SWIM

 

Mt. Martha Life Saving Club runs various swim events on Australia Day and has invited Blue Wedges to be at the final swim event at 12 noon. 

Come along to hear how channel deepening would impact on the Bay, its inhabitants and users, and all the businesses that rely on it. Local speakers.
